My quilting Practice<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I was a kid I fell in love with quilt and specialy quakers and shakers art and crafts for their ethical use of second hand fabrics and community work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I try to express the passing of time, lineage and transmission with my quilts which are created to last but also to be transformed by their owners. Natural dyes from of my own places enhance this peculiar aspect of my work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every quilt is unique. Every piece of fabric has his own story. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I usually start my work with a scrap and a story to tell. The scrap can be a family cloth, a piece of curtains, mended old bed sheets… and recently gifts from old ladies encountered along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This tiny piece of fabric is the core of each quilt and will be assembled in a very intuitive way to others in order to form a picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I use a sewing machine to assemble the top of my quilts but the longest part of the work is hand stitched with cotton threads.It means a lot to me as I need to spend time on every quilt to be satisfied.Every quilt is a moment apart. <\/p>\n<\/div>

Quilts are a wonderful way to give a new life to old cloth and secondhand textiles. They are made to be loved and shared and not only because they are functional but because they represent hours of work and true hand craft made with love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quilts are made to last and be transmitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I worked on second hand quilts too. Mending them and eventually patching them with very smooth and light natural dyes. This a very beautiful and moving work to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
